NIGRIN is one of the great traditional German brands. Its success story began in 1896 with a black leather cream, which quickly became so popular that the brand name NIGRIN was registered in 1901. This was followed in 1904 by the registration of the chimney sweep, still known today, as a trademark.
The rapid spread of the car in the 1950s opened up a new business area thanks to NIGRIN's expertise in chemical cleaning and care products: in 1963 NIGRIN introduced its first range of car care products - the beginning of the more recent success story as a specialist in everything to do with the appearance, protection and value retention of Germans' favourite child. In 1974, the current MTS GmbH & Co. KG took over all formulas, production rights and protected NIGRIN trademarks.
